In Lviv region, two people injured in road accident in the village of Lysiatychi

On 12 June at around 14:00 in the village of Lysiatychi, Stryi district, a road traffic accident occurred in which two people were injured. This was reported by the Stryi District Police Department.

According to preliminary information, while in motion, a load – a concrete slab – fell from a Volvo lorry driven by a 34-year-old resident of Sambir district onto the oncoming lane. A Volkswagen Passat car driven by a 42-year-old resident of Stryi district then ran over it.

After that, the car was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Touareg, which had been travelling behind in the same direction and was driven by a 44-year-old resident of Stryi.

As a result of the accident, the driver and a 43-year-old female passenger of the Volkswagen Passat, a resident of Stryi district, sustained bodily injuries and were taken to hospital.

Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety regulations. The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty with disqualification from driving vehicles for the same period. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
