Traffic Accident in Lviv Region: Truck Hits Pedestrian
The traffic accident occurred on March 24, around 11:00 AM, on the \”Zhovkva-Sheptytsky-Kovel\” highway on Lvivska Street in the city of Velyki Mosty, Sheptytsky District.
Circumstances of the Incident
Preliminary investigations by law enforcement reveal that the truck driver, a 48-year-old resident of Vinnytsia region, hit a pedestrian, a 56-year-old woman from one of the villages in Sheptytsky district.
As a result of the accident, the woman sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
Investigation
The investigative department of transport-related offenses of the Lviv region police has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article stipulates a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation.
Law enforcement officers are determining the circumstances of the incident.
