44-year-old ammunition dealer exposed in Lviv region

In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed a 44-year-old resident of Dnipro who, according to the investigation, was illegally storing and selling ammunition. This was reported by the Stryi District Police Department.

Operatives from the criminal police, investigators and officers from other units of the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, established that the man had illegally stored and sold 1,600 rounds of 9 mm calibre.

During a court-authorised search at his place of residence, police officers discovered and seized almost 150 bullets, nearly 400 cartridges of various calibres, more than 800 shell casings, 765 primers, containers with gunpowder, over a hundred rubber bullets, an object outwardly resembling a Flobert-type pistol, as well as tools for makeshift manufacture and modification of ammunition, mobile phones and other physical evidence of involvement in unlawful activity.

All seized weapons and ammunition have been sent for expert examination, and law enforcement officers are establishing their origin.

The suspect has been notified that he is under suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
