In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed a 51-year-old Kyiv resident who had set up the manufacture and sale of ammunition for firearms at home. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine and the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the man organised a workshop in his home, equipped with specialised tools, where he produced live 4 mm calibre cartridges for Flobert-type revolvers. He loaded standard cases with a larger gunpowder charge and bullets with altered ballistic characteristics.
The suspect looked for clients via messaging apps, where he also discussed orders. He sent the finished cartridges by post and received payment to an e-wallet. Operatives from the criminal police and investigators of Police Department No.1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No.1, under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, documented several episodes of unlawful activity.
It was established that the Kyiv resident had manufactured and sold to a resident of the Lviv region more than 600 cartridges, receiving over 100,000 hryvnias for them. During authorised searches at his place of residence, law enforcement officers seized equipment for manufacturing cartridges, cases, bullets, primers, containers with gunpowder, electronic scales and other physical evidence. All seized items have been sent for expert examination.
The man has been notified of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the suspect faces up to seven years’ imprisonment.
