
In the Lviv region, police uncovered a married couple illegally distributing narcotic tablets.
It was established that the residents of Stryi – a 72-year-old woman and her 69-year-old husband – were purchasing large batches of narcotic tablets ‘Subutex’. They sold them to drug-addicted residents of the city and district in retail at their place of residence.
The criminals were caught by operatives of the criminal police and investigators from the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office. During sanctioned searches at their residence, garage, and vehicle, police found and seized blisters with narcotic tablets, communication devices, mobile operator cards, cash obtained from illegal activities, and other physical evidence. All seized items have been sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, have charged the defendants with a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 307 (‘Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs’) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
Pre-trial investigation continues, the court has imposed a preventive measure on the suspects — detention with the possibility of bail.
