In Lviv region, law enforcement officers have documented the misuse of UAH 94 million in budget funds, in which, according to the investigation, a senior official of the Regional Service for Restoration and Infrastructure Development is implicated. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.
According to law enforcement, the official arranged financing for the construction of a facility on the national motorway Lviv – Krakivets using funds that had been allocated for other needs in the road sector.
The project concerns a parking area for heavy goods vehicles near the transport artery and the access infrastructure to it. To implement the project, as law enforcement officers note, funds from a state programme for the operational maintenance of motorways were used.
A contract was concluded for the arrangement of a roadside base, a site for storing anti-icing materials and access roads on the national route M-10 Lviv – Krakivets. The contractor received the entire amount stipulated in the budget – UAH 94 million.
Law enforcement officers emphasise that the work actually carried out relates to the construction of new facilities and should be financed under other budget programmes. At the same time, the money was taken from the budget line intended for the current operational maintenance of national roads.
Moreover, according to the investigation, capital construction funding under the relevant programme was not envisaged at all, and the official was fully aware that there were no budget allocations for such expenditure.
