In the Lviv region, a scheme of embezzling state funds during the procurement of generators for the military has been uncovered.
The investigation established that the commander of the military unit and the head of the engineering service, together with a civilian, organized an illegal scheme to seize budgetary funds. They concluded a contract for the purchase of 133 generators at an inflated price. Thus, instead of the actual equipment cost of 7 million UAH, the state paid over 17 million.
The officials did not conduct proper market monitoring and agreed to the inflated cost without justification. This allowed them to illegally seize over 10 million UAH, which they laundered through front companies.
*The suspects have been notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine* and preventive measures have been chosen. The military personnel have been temporarily suspended from their duties.
The procedural guidance is being carried out by the Lviv Specialized Prosecution in the defense sector of the Western region.
