In the Lviv region, a scheme to misappropriate more than UAH 1 million in budget funds during the installation and commissioning of gas-fired hot-water boilers for a military unit has been uncovered. This was reported by the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office for the Western Region.
According to the investigation, a 61-year-old company director was involved in organising the scheme. He inflated the cost of works and materials and also entered false information into the documentation.
He was assisted by a 34-year-old senior lieutenant responsible for the housing and utilities service of the military unit. The officer helped with procurement procedures and the processing of the necessary documents.
The investigation established that in 2023 the accomplices entered into the technical documentation data on works that were not provided for in the project. This made it possible to artificially increase the value of the procurement and ensure the desired contractor won the tender.
