In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed individuals who caused damage to NEC “Ukrenergo” amounting to approximately 640,000 hryvnias. Among the suspects are the director of a contracting company and the head of the department of the Western Territorial Network Service Management of NEC “Ukrenergo.” They embezzled funds during work on a critical energy infrastructure facility under martial law conditions.
At the end of 2022, a contract for the capital repair of one of the energy facilities was concluded between NEC “Ukrenergo” and the LLC. However, the contractor’s director did not fully comply with the contract terms, submitting work completion reports with false data about the actual work and its cost. The department head, knowing this, signed the reports, leading to an overestimation of the work cost by almost 640,000 hryvnias.
The criminals were exposed by investigators from the department for investigating crimes in the field of economic and official activities of the Lviv region police, together with SBU operatives in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office. The company’s director has been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 366 and Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to eight years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years.
The department head has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for three to six years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years and a fine of five hundred to one thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
