
An organizer of an illegal border crossing scheme for 15,000 US dollars has been uncovered in the Lviv region.
Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a resident of Volyn has been notified of suspicion in organizing the illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine. According to the investigation, in June of this year, the suspect organized an illegal border crossing scheme for a person of conscription age. For a monetary reward, he promised to transfer the “client” through one of the checkpoints in the Odesa region to a neighboring country, specifically the Republic of Moldova. The cost of such a service was 15,000 US dollars.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while obtaining the previously agreed sum. A decision is being made on the preventive measure for him. Investigative actions are ongoing, and all involved individuals are being identified. The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the State Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
