
In Lviv region, within a span of four hours, two fatal road accidents occurred near the villages of Silets in Sheptytskyi district and Sokilnyky in Lviv district. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, are establishing the circumstances of the incidents.
Yesterday at around 22:00, near the village of Silets, a 60-year-old driver of a Škoda Octavia hit a cyclist. According to the driver, the man suddenly rode out onto the carriageway. The 61-year-old cyclist died at the scene from his injuries.
Approximately four hours later, near the village of Sokilnyky, a 31-year-old driver of a DAF tractor unit, travelling in the direction of the village of Zymna Voda, ran over a woman. According to the driver, she was walking in the lane intended for vehicular traffic. The 60-year-old victim died from her injuries.
After both accidents, the drivers did not leave the scene and themselves called the police and medics. Information about the incidents has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations on charges of violating road traffic safety regulations resulting in the death of a victim (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
