A tragic traffic accident occurred in Lviv region, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
The incident happened on November 8 around 21:15 on the ‘Lviv-Shegyni’ highway near the village of Rodatychi in the Lviv district. According to law enforcement, the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta, a 72-year-old resident of the city of Yavoriv, hit a pedestrian. The victim, a 53-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages, was crossing the road outside a pedestrian crossing. As a result of the injuries sustained, the man died at the scene.
Investigators have opened a criminal case based on Article 286 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which envisages a sentence of imprisonment from three to eight years. There is also the possibility of deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, with police establishing the circumstances of the incident.
