Attacker on Serviceman Detained in Lviv Region

In Lviv region, police detained a perpetrator who brutally beat a resident of a neighboring village.

As a result of the incident, the victim, a serviceman undergoing rehabilitation, was hospitalized with serious bodily injuries. The detainee faces up to eight years in prison for the crime.

As established by criminal police operatives together with investigators and officers from other services of the Yavoriv district police department, the incident occurred on December 12 around 18:20 in one of the villages of the district near a store. A conflict arose between two men – a 42-year-old local resident and a 25-year-old resident of a neighboring village, during which the younger man struck the older one several times on the head, causing bodily injuries.

Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the victim with a subdural hemorrhage – he is currently in intensive care.

Through conducted measures, law enforcement officers determined the whereabouts of the perpetrator and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The detainee has been notified of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment from five to eight years.

Pre-trial investigation is underway, and the court will soon decide on a preventive measure for the suspect. The procedural guidance is being carried out by the Yavoriv district prosecutor’s office.
