
Law enforcement officers in the Lviv region have arrested a drug dealer with drugs worth over three million hryvnias.
It has been established that a 33-year-old resident of Kyiv illegally acquired, stored, and transported with the intent to sell psychotropic substances PVP, amphetamine, mephedrone, MDMA, and the narcotic substance cannabis with a total weight of more than five kilograms. “On September 23, around 14:00, in the village of Davydiv, Lviv district, patrol police officers of Police Department No. 3 of Lviv District Police Administration No. 2 stopped a Daewoo Lanos car for traffic rule violations”, reports the National Police of Ukraine. The driver tried to flee, but the officers promptly located him and detained him with the support of Kyiv police special forces.
To solve the crime, operatives from the Department for Drug Crime Combat of the National Police of Ukraine and the Department for Drug Crime Combat of Lviv Region, criminal police operatives and investigators of the territorial unit, as well as employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of Lviv Region Police, were involved. During a sanctioned search of the suspect’s car, police discovered and seized 1991 ready-made ‘stashes’ containing a substance resembling PVP with a total weight of about 2060 grams, 1127 ready-made ‘stashes’ of the psychotropic substance amphetamine with a total weight of about 1545 grams, 274 ready-made ‘stashes’ and a package with a green plant-like substance resembling the narcotic cannabis with a total weight of about 480 grams, 821 ready-made ‘stashes’, 8 zip-bags and a package containing the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance mephedrone with a total weight of about 850 grams, 10 zip-bags containing 128 tablets, appearing to be the psychotropic substance MDMA, with a total weight of about 128 grams, packaging tools and other material evidence proving the suspect’s involvement in illegal activities.
The total value of the seized psychotropics and drugs on the ‘black’ market is over three million hryvnias. All confiscated items were sent for examination at the Lviv Scientific-Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, have charged the suspect with committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 307 (Illegal production, making, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article’s sanction is imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect — custody without the right to bail.
