In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers detained a suspect in illegal handling of weapons and ammunition. According to MVS.LVIV, at the end of January, the suspect acquired a sawn-off hunting shotgun and about 100 cartridges of various calibers, which he later sold to an acquaintance.
The perpetrator, a 46-year-old resident of the city of Khyriv, was exposed by criminal police operatives in cooperation with investigators and employees of other services of police department No. 1 of the Sambir District Police Department. On February 23, the police detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The weapons and ammunition were seized by law enforcement and sent for expert examination. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The article’s sanction provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
