Repeat Offender Caught with Psychotropics in Buckwheat in Lviv Region

In the Lviv region, a 37-year-old man attempted to send a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance to a correctional facility by concealing it in buckwheat packaging. This attracted the attention of law enforcement, as psychotropic substances are dangerous to society. The Sambir court found him guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv Region.

In addition, the court added an extra month of imprisonment that was previously unserved for a prior conviction for theft. It was established that the accused had purchased the psychotropic substance ‘PVP’ with the intent to sell, stored it at home, and in July last year, sent a postal parcel to correctional facility No. 19. A false name was used for the shipment, but its contents did not go unnoticed.

The convict was charged with the acquisition, storage, and illegal distribution of psychotropic substances in places of imprisonment under part 2 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation was conducted by investigators of the Sambir district police department. The verdict will come into legal force after the appeal period expires.
