
In the Sykhiv district of Lviv, police officers detained a 53-year-old citizen of the Republic of Poland who was on an international wanted list. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
As established by officers of the Migration Police Department and staff of the International Police Cooperation Unit, the foreign national was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for arrest and subsequent extradition to the Republic of Poland to serve a sentence handed down by the Lublin Voivodeship Court.
By court decision, the man was sentenced to one year and six months’ imprisonment for a series of offences related to theft, handling property obtained by criminal means, document forgery and the unlawful use of vehicles.
The wanted man was identified and detained during nationwide operations under the code name ‘Migrant’ carried out in Lviv region. The measures are aimed at detecting violations of migration legislation, illegal migration and persons hiding from law enforcement agencies, in particular those who are internationally wanted.
The detainee has been placed in a temporary holding facility. A decision is currently being made on whether to apply temporary arrest and his subsequent transfer to the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland. The measures were carried out in cooperation with Interpol and within the framework of international police cooperation.
