Lviv region police have arrested a 34-year-old resident of Boryslav for murder and assault on a law enforcement officer.
The incident occurred on June 15th on Drogobytska Street in Boryslav. A conflict arose between two local residents and an unknown man. The suspect brutally beat one of the opponents, causing him an open craniocerebral injury, and stabbed the other in the chest. The 38-year-old man died at the scene from his injuries, while the other victim remains in intensive care.
To solve the crime, investigators involved criminal police officers, detectives, operatives, and fighters from the KORD special unit. Police identified the attacker as a 34-year-old resident of Boryslav.
During the arrest, the suspect offered armed resistance and stabbed a KORD special unit officer. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.
Under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators initiated criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) and part 1 of Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer). The sanctions of these articles provide for penalties up to life imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will decide on a preventive measure for the detainee.
