
A Suspect in the Murder of a Villager Detained in Lviv Region
In the Lviv region, police have detained a suspect involved in the murder of a fellow villager. It has been established that a conflict arose between the men while consuming alcoholic beverages. The detained suspect faces a penalty of up to fifteen years of imprisonment for his actions.
Incident Details
On April 9, the police received a report that a man’s body with signs of violent death was discovered in a house in one of the villages of Yavoriv district. At the scene, the investigative team and officers from other services of Police Division No. 1 of the Yavoriv District Police Department, as well as forensic experts from the Lviv Police, were working.
As established by the law enforcement officers, during the night, a conflict arose between two villagers while consuming alcoholic beverages, during which a 56-year-old host struck a 62-year-old guest with a hammer on the head and stabbed him in the neck, leading to his death. Afterward, the homeowner went to sleep.
Legal Consequences
The police detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article prescribes a sentence of seven to fifteen years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation continues.
