In Lviv region, two Second World War mortar shells destroyed

In Lviv region, pyrotechnic specialists of the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre “Lviv” of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have, over the past 24 hours, removed and destroyed two explosive devices dating back to the Second World War.

In the town of Sambir in Sambir district, specialists destroyed a 120 mm mortar shell, and in the village of Shyshkivtsi in Zolochiv district, an 82 mm mortar shell, both from the Second World War.

The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region reminds the public that, if a suspicious object is found, safety rules must be followed.

  • Do not touch a suspicious object so as not to trigger an explosion.
  • Do not attempt to move or dismantle the item found.
  • Do not throw a dangerous object into a fire.

Any discovery of suspicious objects must be reported immediately by calling 101 or 102.
