Operatives of the Lviv border detachment, together with police officers, under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkiv district prosecutor’s office, detained a citizen of Ukraine who assisted his compatriots in illegally crossing the border.
In particular, a 64-year-old resident of the Transcarpathian region produced documents that allowed unhindered crossing of the border of Ukraine for persons who did not have such a right. For his “services”, namely, the production of a set of documents, he took from 1,000 to 3,000 thousand US dollars per person.
During the searches, the law enforcement officers seized a number of manufactured documents that were supposed to be used for crossing the border by men under martial law, money obtained from illegal activities, as well as other physical evidence.
The investigators informed the dealer about the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in Part 3 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides imprisonment for a period of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
