Fatal road accident involving a scooter occurred on the evening of 29 July between the villages of Staryi Yar and Novyny in the Yavoriv district of Lviv region. This was reported by the Yavoriv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
At around 22:50, a 13-year-old local resident, riding a Yamaha scooter, collided with a UMZ tractor with a trailer, which was stationary on the road.
As a result of the injuries sustained, the underage scooter rider died at the scene. The scooter passenger, a 14-year-old resident of Novoiavorivsk, suffered bodily injuries and was taken to hospital.
Investigators from the department for the investigation of transport-related offences of the Lviv region police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules). Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
