On 17–18 July, high and extreme fire danger (class 4 and 5) is forecast for the northern part of Lviv region. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology of Ukraine.
During this period, residents and visitors of Lviv region are urged to take particular care with fire in open areas, in forests and near fields.
Rescue services remind the public of the main prohibitions during periods of high fire danger: do not discard unextinguished cigarette ends or matches; do not burn dry vegetation, stubble or rubbish; do not light campfires in forested areas, near agricultural land or in open spaces; and do not leave any sources of open flame unattended.
It is stressed that even a single careless action can lead to a large-scale fire, the destruction of natural ecosystems and property, and create a threat to human life.
