Extreme fire danger declared in Lviv region from 1 to 7 August

In Lviv region, from 01 to 07 August, an extreme fire danger of the 5th class is forecast. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology of Ukraine.

During this period, the risk of fires in ecosystems rises sharply. Dry and windy weather contributes to the rapid spread of fire, meaning that flames can engulf forests, dry vegetation and peatlands. Such fires are difficult to extinguish, and their consequences pose a threat to people, animals, natural ecosystems and property.

Rescuers are calling on residents of the region to strictly observe fire safety rules and avoid any actions that could lead to ignition.

  • Do not burn dry grass or rubbish.
  • Do not light campfires in forests or near dry vegetation.
  • Do not throw cigarette ends or matches on the ground.
  • Do not leave open flames unattended.

If you detect a fire, you must immediately call the Rescue Service on 101. Rescuers stress that even a small spark can cause a large-scale fire and destroy extensive areas of natural land.
