High wildfire risk warning issued in Lviv region

Across the territory of Lviv region, an increased risk of wildfires is expected in the coming days. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology of Ukraine.

According to meteorologists, on 29–30 July, an extreme wildfire risk of class 5 and a high risk of class 4 are forecast in parts of the region. On 31 July, an extreme (class 5) and, in the mountains, a high (class 4) wildfire risk is expected.

Rescue services remind the public that during periods of high and extreme wildfire risk, even a cigarette butt, a match or a carelessly lit campfire can lead to a large-scale blaze.

Residents are urged not to burn dry vegetation or rubbish, not to light campfires in forests, on peatlands or near dry grass, not to leave open flames unattended, and not to discard unextinguished cigarette butts or matches.

Protect nature and human life, because, as experts emphasise, it is easier to prevent a fire than to bring it under control.
