
In the Lviv region, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 26-year-old resident of the city of Sambir, who is accused of the illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition.
According to the investigation, the man unlawfully acquired, stored and sold various types of weapons and ammunition to his “clients”, including mortars, assault rifles, grenade launcher rounds and cartridges.
Law enforcement officers documented several episodes of his unlawful activity. On 21 April in the city of Sambir, he was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while selling another batch of ammunition – more than a thousand cartridges of various calibres and five 40 mm grenade launcher rounds.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of firearms, ammunition or explosives) has been completed, and the indictment has been submitted for consideration by the court.
Under the article he is charged with, the accused faces a sentence of three to seven years’ imprisonment. The information was released by the Sambir District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
