In Lviv region, SES bomb disposal experts destroy Second World War munitions

In Lviv region, SES bomb disposal experts have destroyed Second World War munitions discovered in Lviv district.

On 11 October, in a forest near the village of Volia Vysotska, people gathering mushrooms noticed an object resembling an RGD-33 grenade dating back to the Second World War. Another dangerous find was made on 14 October in the village of Batiatychi in Lviv district — four time fuzes for a 76-millimetre artillery shell and one artillery shell of the same calibre were found there.

The bomb disposal team of the Emergency Rescue Unit of Special Purpose of the Main Department of the SES of Ukraine in Lviv region removed all explosive devices and destroyed them in the prescribed manner.

Rescuers stress that munitions from past wars remain dangerous even decades later. If a suspicious object is found, it must not be touched, moved or tampered with. You should move away to a safe distance and report the find by calling 101 or 102.
