In the urban-type settlement of Shklo in Yavoriv district, the contract for the construction of an educational institution has been terminated, the performance of which could have led to the unlawful use of almost UAH 60 million in budget funds. This was reported by the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors established that, following an open tender, a construction contract for an educational institution in Shklo was concluded between the Novoyavorivsk City Council and a company. In practice, construction work was carried out only until 2022.
During 2023–2026, no work was carried out or financed due to a lack of budget funds. Despite this, at the end of 2022 the parties signed an addendum extending the term of the contract by a further four years, even though the City Council was aware of the lack of funding. The possibility of reducing the scope of work, revising the contract price or terminating the contract was not considered.
In order to protect the interests of the state, prosecutors of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office filed a claim with the court seeking to have this addendum declared invalid. After proceedings in the case were opened, the defendants agreed with the prosecutor’s arguments and terminated the contract without waiting for the court’s decision.
According to the prosecutor’s office, thanks to the representative measures taken, it was possible to prevent the potential unlawful use of almost UAH 60 million in budget funds.
