
Mountain rescuers in Lviv region have found an 83-year-old man who got lost while descending Mount Parashka near the town of Skole in the Stryi district.
The report of the disappearance of the hiker, born in 1943, was received on 8 October at 20:49. The man strayed from the hiking route during the descent but kept in touch by phone, which helped rescuers to navigate during the search.
On 9 October at 00:15 the victim was found in a forested area at the foot of Mount Parashka. He was led out of the forest and, with the help of a rescuers’ quad bike, taken to the town of Skole and handed over to medics at 01:30.
Due to exhaustion, the man was taken to the central district hospital in the town of Skole. After his rescue, he thanked the mountain rescuers for their assistance.
Rescuers remind hikers to choose a route in line with their abilities, check the weather forecast, take a charged phone, inform relatives of their route, stay on marked trails and, in case of danger, call 101.
