In Zolochiv district, an indictment has been submitted to court against a former public procurement specialist of one of the city education departments, who is accused of improper performance of official duties during the procurement of kitchen equipment for educational institutions. This was reported by the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in 2024 the official, working as a public procurement specialist of the city council, was responsible for conducting tenders for one of the educational institutions in Zolochiv district. Before announcing the procurements, she was required to carry out a market price survey and determine the value of the goods in line with the established methodology, but failed to do so.
The investigation established that two procurements of kitchen equipment were organised at an economically unjustified price. For educational institutions, meat grinders and vegetable cutters were purchased for a total of UAH 600,000, which exceeded the average market value of such goods by more than 35%.
After the delivery notes confirming receipt of the goods were signed, funds from the local budget were fully transferred to the supplier’s accounts. According to the prosecution, as a result of these actions, the local budget suffered losses of more than UAH 160,000.
The former official is charged with official negligence that caused significant harm to the public interest (Part 1 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation in the proceedings was carried out by Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
