In the Lviv region, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security uncovered an underground alcohol workshop where the production of counterfeit drinks had been set up. This was reported by the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region.
According to the investigation, a man was producing vodka of various brands and affixing counterfeit excise stamps to the bottles. The production and storage of spirit, concentrates and finished products took place in ordinary outbuildings.
During the searches, detectives seized 366 bottles of counterfeit vodka, 2,200 litres of spirit and spirit mixture, 14.5 litres of cognac and whisky concentrate, as well as bottling equipment: hoses, funnels, an alcoholmeter and empty containers.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 1 of Article 199 and Part 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable and counterfeit alcoholic beverages. Procedural supervision is being carried out by prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and operational support is being provided by the Security Service of Ukraine Office in the Lviv region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
