Across Lviv region over the past 24 hours, rescuers have extinguished 18 fires, 12 of which broke out in natural ecosystems. This was reported by the Lviv region office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The rescue service notes that fires in natural ecosystems remain a serious threat, as flames spread rapidly in dry and windy weather, destroy vegetation and pose a danger to residential buildings and other structures.
During one of the fires, rescuers managed to save a building from being destroyed by flames by localising the blaze near the structure.
The Lviv region SES urges citizens not to burn dry grass or rubbish, not to leave campfires unattended and not to throw cigarette butts onto dry vegetation, as a single careless act can cause a large-scale fire.
Rescuers are asking people to protect nature, property and human life, and to follow fire safety rules when in open areas.
