In Lviv region, over the course of 24 hours, rescuers responded to 21 fires, of which 12 outbreaks occurred in ecosystems. Fires in the natural environment remain one of the most frequent reasons for call-outs for the region’s firefighters.
Flames in open areas spread rapidly through dry vegetation and can move across large territories, posing a threat to forests, peatlands and agricultural land, as well as to outbuildings and residential houses.
Rescuers are urging residents of the region to refrain from burning dry grass and plant waste. Such burning is not a way to tidy up and can lead to large-scale fires and serious consequences for the environment and property.
