In Lviv region, 29 wildfires extinguished in a day

In Lviv region, over the past day, rescuers extinguished 29 fires in natural ecosystems. As a result of the blazes, the fire destroyed more than 2.2 hectares of natural areas.

In addition to dry vegetation, State Emergency Service units are continuing to tackle peat fires. Such fires are dangerous because the flames can smoulder underground for a long time, spread over large areas and reappear even after surface extinguishing.

Rescuers state that they are making every effort to contain the seats of fire and prevent further spread of the flames across natural areas.

The emergency service urges the public to act responsibly and not to trigger fires in ecosystems: do not burn dry vegetation or rubbish, do not light campfires during periods of high fire risk, and do not leave cigarettes unextinguished.

According to rescuers, most fires in natural ecosystems are caused by human carelessness. Residents are asked to protect nature, their own lives and the safety of those around them.
