In Lviv region, over the past day firefighters were called out 39 times to extinguish fires in natural ecosystems. According to official information, the fire scorched more than 3.4 hectares of land. This was reported by the regional units of the State Emergency Service.
Firefighters are also continuing to tackle peat fires, which are difficult to extinguish and can smoulder for a long time.
The State Emergency Service stresses that every instance of setting fire to dry vegetation creates a risk of the blaze getting out of control and spreading over large areas, posing a danger to people and causing damage to nature.
Firefighters are urging residents of the region not to burn dry vegetation, to protect the environment and not to place additional strain on those who are forced to battle fires every day.
