Over the past day in Lviv region, 64 wildfires in natural ecosystems were recorded. These are dozens of incidents where fire destroyed vegetation, harmed nature and created a threat to people and property.
During such burnings, fire:
- destroys vegetation, insects and small animals;
- pollutes the air with acrid smoke that people are forced to breathe;
- can spread over a large area in a matter of minutes;
- creates a threat to residential buildings, farm structures, forests and property;
- takes up rescuers’ time when they may be needed where help is truly critical.
Rescuers in Lviv region urge people not to burn dry grass, leaves and rubbish, not to leave fires unattended and not to throw cigarette ends onto dry vegetation.
If you detect a fire, you must immediately call 101 and prevent the land from being turned into a burnt-out wasteland.
