In Lviv region, over the past 24 hours, rescuers have extinguished 12 fires, including 8 outbreaks in natural ecosystems covering a total area of more than 2 hectares.
Rescuers stress that fire can quickly get out of control, especially when people attempt to burn dry grass, leaves or rubbish, as well as due to carelessly left campfires and cigarette ends.
Citizens are urged not to burn dry vegetation or rubbish, not to leave open flames unattended, and to strictly follow fire safety rules to protect themselves, others and the natural environment.
Rescuers emphasise that it is far easier to prevent a fire than to deal with its consequences.
