In Drohobych in the Lviv region, police detained a 35-year-old local resident suspected of robbing a cyclist. The incident was reported to the 102 emergency line at around 22:00 on 9 August by a 19-year-old resident of Drohobych.
According to the complainant, on Stryiska Street, near the railway station, an unknown man, threatening him with physical violence, took his Fortuna bicycle and rode off in an unknown direction.
Operatives from the criminal police, investigators and officers from other units of the Drohobych District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. Law enforcement officers promptly established the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The bicycle was seized from the man as physical evidence.
Investigators of the territorial subdivision of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, notified the detainee that he is suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery). The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
