On the “Drohobych–Dovholuka” road between the town of Stebnyk and the village of Dobrohostiv in Drohobych district, a road traffic collision occurred in which 11 people were injured.
The crash happened on 31 July at around 19:30. According to preliminary police reports, a Skoda Octavia driven by a 37-year-old foreign national moved into the oncoming lane and collided with an I-VAN scheduled bus driven by a 46-year-old local resident. There were 14 passengers on the bus.
As a result of the collision, the Skoda driver and his two passengers – local residents aged 12 and 15 – sustained bodily injuries, as did the bus driver and seven female passengers. All the female passengers are residents of the district aged between 22 and 59.
Investigators from the Drohobych District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles). The article provides for a penalty of a fine ranging from three thousand to five thousand tax-free minimum incomes, or correctional labour for up to two years, or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to three years with disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years.
A pre-trial investigation is under way, and law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
