Two Second World War artillery shells destroyed in Lviv region

In Lviv region, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service removed and in accordance with established procedure destroyed two artillery shells dating back to the Second World War, discovered in Yavoriv and Lviv districts.

In the village of Nahachiv in Yavoriv district, during an inspection of private property, a 76 mm artillery shell from the Second World War was found in a dry pond.

Another dangerous find was discovered in a forest near the village of Kozulka in Lviv district. While picking mushrooms, people came across a 122 mm artillery shell from the Second World War.

In both cases, specialists from the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre “Lviv” of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine arrived at the locations where the explosive items were discovered, removed the munitions and destroyed them.

Rescuers remind the public that munitions remaining from past wars pose a deadly danger. If a suspicious object is found, it must not be touched, moved or tampered with. The place where it was found should be marked, you should move away to a safe distance and immediately report the dangerous item by calling 101 or 102.
