World War II grenade and artillery shells destroyed in Lviv region

In the Lviv region, pyrotechnic teams from the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on 25 August removed and destroyed a hand grenade, 260 rounds of small arms ammunition and three artillery munitions dating back to the Second World War.

Near the village of Snovychi in Zolochiv district, a F-1 grenade and 260 rounds of small arms ammunition were discovered in a field during earthworks. The pyrotechnic team of the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed these munitions and destroyed them in accordance with established procedures.

On the same day, a 76 mm artillery shell from the Second World War was found in a forest near the village of Hlynsk in Lviv district during a walk. Pyrotechnic specialists also removed and destroyed it.

Another 76 mm artillery shell from the Second World War was discovered in Lviv on Lukasevycha Street during a walk in the woods. This munition was also removed and destroyed in accordance with established procedures.

The State Emergency Service emphasises that munitions from the Second World War, regardless of their age or size, are dangerous. If an explosive or suspicious object is found, it is forbidden to touch it; the discovery must be reported immediately by calling 101 or 102.
