Today, on 20 October, at 09.30, the police received a report of damage to several graves of servicemen in the honourary burial field No. 76 of the Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv.
The police received a report that about 40 graves had been damaged at the Lychakiv Cemetery on Vakhnyanyna Street, including broken and torn photos and damaged lamps. The investigative team and officers of other police services of Lviv region are working at the scene.
According to sources in law enforcement, it has been preliminarily established that the offence was committed by a mentally unstable woman who is registered in a psychiatric clinic: this woman was previously caught collecting candy on graves.
As the Lviv regional police later reported, law enforcement officers are taking all measures to identify the perpetrators of the desecration of the defenders’ graves.
The issue of legal classification of the incident is being resolved.
