At the Lviv-Postal customs post, during inspections of international postal consignments from the USA addressed to Ukrainian citizens, customs officers uncovered a batch of undeclared Apple devices with an estimated value of about 1 million hryvnias.
While analysing advance information on international consignments, staff of the Coordination and Monitoring Customs suspected discrepancies in the data, after which customs inspections were carried out. As a result, they established inconsistencies between the goods declared and those actually being moved in the parcels.
In total, customs officers found 35 Apple devices: 17 iPad tablets, 9 iPad Air, 1 iPad mini, 2 iPad Pro, 5 MacBook Pro laptops and 1 MacBook Air. These devices were not listed in the customs declarations.
According to customs, such actions bear the hallmarks of a customs rules violation as set out in Part 1 of Article 473 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Documentation of the detected offences by staff of the Coordination and Monitoring Customs is currently ongoing.
