On the Lviv bypass a DAF lorry fatally injured a female pedestrian

In the early hours of 11 June on the “Western bypass of the city of Lviv” road near the village of Sokilnyky in Lviv district, a fatal road traffic collision occurred.

At around 02:20, the driver of a DAF lorry, a 31-year-old Lviv resident, ran into a pedestrian – a 60-year-old woman from Lviv. As a result of the injuries sustained, the woman died at the scene.

Investigators from the Department for the Investigation of Transport-Related Crimes of the Lviv Region Police, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles.

The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a possible disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years or without such disqualification.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
