In the village of Trostianets in Stryi district, a man died while swimming in a lake. The incident occurred on 19 July, and the emergency services received the call at 15:44.
According to the emergency service, while swimming the man dived into the water and did not resurface. Rescuers from the town of Mykolaiv were dispatched to the scene and used an inflatable boat to search the lake.
At 17:17, staff from the Lviv Central Rescue and Diving Service found the man’s body and brought it ashore. The deceased was a man born in 1976.
Rescuers in the Lviv region are urging people to follow basic water safety rules. In particular, they advise swimming only in specially equipped and designated areas, not entering the water while under the influence of alcohol, not leaving children unattended near bodies of water, not diving in unfamiliar places, not swimming beyond buoys and not going too far from the shore.
They also recommend avoiding swimming during bad weather, strong winds and after dark, and insist that when using boats or other watercraft, people must wear life jackets. In the event of an emergency, you should immediately call the Rescue Service on 101.
