Undeclared equipment worth 300,000 hryvnias found at Krakivets checkpoint

At the Ukrainian-Polish border, at the “Krakivets” checkpoint, border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment, together with operational officers and customs officials, uncovered two attempts to bring undeclared equipment into Ukraine with a total value of around 300,000 hryvnias.

During an inspection of a Mercedes minibus, undeclared mobile phones, a portable projector, headphones and a vacuum cleaner of various manufacturers were found in the luggage compartment. According to the 21-year-old driver, he had received this equipment in Poland as a consignment and was supposed to deliver it to Chernivtsi. The preliminary value of the seized cargo was estimated at roughly 200,000 hryvnias.

Another case was recorded while checking a different Mercedes minibus travelling from Poland to Ivano-Frankivsk. In the vehicle’s luggage compartment, 57 items of household appliances were found that had not been included in the declaration. The 26-year-old driver claimed he was transporting the equipment allegedly for his own needs. The approximate value of the discovered goods is about 100,000 hryvnias.

In both cases, the relevant documentation was drawn up, and the undeclared goods were seized and transferred to the customs warehouse.
