
At the “Krakivets-Korchova” border crossing point, customs officers recorded several attempts to bring smartphones and other equipment into Ukraine disguised as humanitarian aid for animals.
According to customs officials, a 37-year-old resident of Lviv region, who was returning home in a Ford Focus, stated in her declaration that she was transporting humanitarian aid – 24 bags of animal feed with a total weight of 480 kg. At the same time, she attempted to bring in, hidden under her jacket, eight APPLE iPhone 17 Pro Max devices that were not declared.
The same day in Krakivets, during an inspection of a SEA minibus driven by a 48-year-old resident of Yavoriv district, customs officers again discovered concealed APPLE iPhone 17 Pro Max handsets. Two phones were hidden in a structural cavity of the dashboard, and another four under the driver’s outer clothing. She had also declared humanitarian aid – 25 bags of animal feed weighing 500 kg.
In connection with these two incidents of unlawful movement of gadgets with concealment from customs control, protocols were drawn up under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The total value of the smartphones found is 600,000 UAH in the first case and 500,000 UAH in the second.
In addition, in Krakivets, customs officers found undeclared equipment in the luggage compartment of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus driven by a 21-year-old resident of Chernivtsi: XIAOMI 17 mobile phones, One Plus handsets and other devices with a total value of about 250,000 UAH. A protocol was drawn up in this case in accordance with Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
