The conflict between the relatives arose for domestic reasons. The detainee faces up to eight years in prison for his actions.
As established by officers of the Police Department No. 1 of the Sambir District Police Department, on 21 February at around 8.00 a.m. in a village of Sambir District, a domestic conflict arose between two local residents – brothers aged 44 and 52 – which escalated into a fight, during which the older brother stabbed the younger brother in the chest. Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the victim with a “penetrating stab wound”.
Investigators of the territorial police unit served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
