The traffic accident occurred on March 27, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., on the Lviv-Sambir-Uzhgorod highway between the city of Rudky and the village of Vistovichi, Sambir district. As previously established by law enforcement officers, an unknown driver of an unidentified car hit an 81-year-old local resident and drove away from the scene.
As a result of the road accident, the elderly man was injured and, despite the efforts of doctors, died in the hospital.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Sambir district police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
A complex of operative and search measures is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the identity of the driver who committed the accident and the location of the car.
