The road accident occurred on 16 February, around 19.00, between the villages of Voyutychi and Biskovychi in Sambir district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz A170, a 24-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district, collided with a horse-drawn cart driven by a 31-year-old resident of another village in Sambir district.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the cart was injured and hospitalised.
Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
